PRIMARY schools are this morning preparing for the return of their younger pupils.

Under the gradual easing of coronavirus restrictions announced earlier this month by First Minister Nicola Surgeon, nursery and P1 to P3 pupils will be returning to classrooms today for the first time since the second period of lockdown.

Many schools have posted welcoming messages for pupils and parents and urged them to abide by restrictions still in place.

Park Primary in Invergordon posted: "Looking forward to seeing all our lovely children in nursery, P1, P2 and P2/3! There has been some work on paths carried out last week so please look out for directions in the morning in case the workmen are not quite finished.

"I also need to remind all the adults dropping children off tomorrow to please adhere to Covid restrictions. Thank you for wearing face coverings, maintaining 2m social distancing and adhering to our one-way system. Although it will be lovely to see friends again, please do not congregate.

"By keeping to the rules, we hope we can have the rest of the school back very soon. P4-7 we hope it won’t be too long before we can welcome you back too!"
