AN early learning centre in Ross-shire will re-open to pupils for the new term a day later than planned because of a fire.

Parents and carers of pupils attending the Early Learning Centre (nursery) at Kyle Primary School are being informed that following a fire this week, it is planned to re-open on Wednesday (August 17).

Highland Council plans to re-open the nursery on Wednesday following a deep clean of the building.

If the council is unable to re-open the nursery on Wednesday, plans are in place to accommodate nursery children at Auchtertyre Early Learning Centre until Kyle Nursery is ready to re-open.

Meanwhile Kyle Primary School will re-open at the start of term as normal to staff on Monday for in-service staff training and on Tuesday, August 16 for all primary pupils.

Parents and carers are being kept informed by the Council.

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Ward councillors paid tribute to the local Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for their swift response to the fire at Kyle Nursery.
