A Ross-shire man gave up drugs after his partner found out he was using cocaine on a recreational basis, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

Andrew Macdonald of Windsor Place, Conon Bridge admitted possessing £500 worth of the Class A narcotic in his home on September 25, 2019.

Fiscal depute Susan Love told the court that police obtained a search warrant for the property and found the bag of drugs in an inside pocket of a suit jacket in 34 year old Macdonald's bedroom.

He had originally been charged with being concerned in the supply of the drug. But it was accepted that the 21.1 grams of white powder was for his own use.

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans said: "In 2019 he was dabbling in drugs. But it was short-lived after his partner found out.

"He no longer uses drugs." Mr Gowans added.

Macdonald was fined £600.
