Weather warning from Ross lifesavers as storm gathers strength

AN Easter Ross lifeboat crew have warned members of the public to be careful in coastal areas as Storm Arwen gathers momentum.

RNLI Invergordon Lifeboat said that Storm Arwen will be sweeping in across the UK with Saturday likely to see the strongest winds gusting up to around 60mph.

It posted: "Please keep back from breaking waves and be careful around exposed coastal paths and headlands.

"Sadly, around 150 people accidentally lose their lives around UK and Irish waters each year and over half of these people didn’t plan on ever entering the water. Slips, trips and falls can be a major factor in these kinds of incidents.

"If you see someone else in danger in the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
