A HOLY roller is on a mission to hook up with other revving reverends from across the Highlands and beyond.

Rev Iain Ramsden, a keen biker in his spare time, has in the past combined his passion for the open road with raising cash for good causes.

Now he’s keen to find out if there are other members of the clergy or church elders who share his love of motorcycling and who might like to join an informal gang of “Heaven’s Angels” for a good cause.

Minister of the linked Church of Scotland charge at Killearnan and Knockbain, Rev Ramsden wants to boost the kitty of the Children’s Ward at Raigmore Hospital.

Rev Ramsden, who alternates between a BMW F800 ST and a Kawasaki VN900 Classic, is looking at the possibility of a two-day September fundraising ride.

He said: “It’s just an idea at the moment but I thought it would be nice to find out if there are others who might like to join. We could even potentially pick up people en route.”

Last year, he saddled up with his long-time pal Rev Ivan Warwick for a 1,200-mile ride to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Research.

The revving revs were bowled over by the generosity of backers and people they met en route as they travelled around Ulster astride their motorcycles.

The dynamic duo have also boosted the war chest of Inverness-based charity Morning Call.

Rev Ramsden is also a member of the St John of Jerusalem, a civic honour bestowed by the Queen for years of fundraising for the Eye Hospital in Jerusalem.

Anyone interested in joining him for his latest venture can telephone him on 01463 731333.
