Ross County FC sporting director Scott Boyd is getting out and about in his new role with the Dingwall-based club.

A ROSS County club legend is blazing a trail across the Highlands as part of a new challenge to engage with the wider community.

Scott Boyd is covering the ground in what has been dubbed Rossco's Route 400 – a nod to the North Coast 500 and reference to the club's distinctive mascot.

The former defender, now the club's sporting director, is set to travel over 400 miles to venues across the Highlands.

The RR400 begins next Thursday in Portree before visiting a host of other towns and villages between now and Christmas.

These include Alness, Tain, Lairg, Thurso Forres and Kingussie.

On the visits, the club will host a one-hour free coaching session for kids aged 5-12, followed by a meet and greet with a first team player.

During the visits there will be exclusive giveaway treats for children and the chance to learn more about Ross County.

Sporting director Scott Boyd said: “It’s a great opportunity for us to get out to the communities and learn more about what is and isn’t available and how we can help to work with these communities going forward.

"Part of my remit in being brought back to the club was to help engage with people across the Highlands and this will be a great way to meet people and hear their thoughts in a relatively short time-scale.

"Everybody knows that Ross County are a community club but we really have to look at ways of pushing that to the next level and this will give us the opportunity to learn some of the challenges out there and how we can maybe help to overcome them."
