Ross County fans gear up for a derby day with a difference!
ROSS County fans suffering withdrawal symptoms following the end of the season can look forward to another scintillating Highland derby in Dingwall this weekend.
Fans of both of the Highlands' SPL clubs will unite in support of a charity fundraiser on Saturday - before going at it hammer and tong on the field of play!
The Saturday, June 1 match - which kicks off at 3pm the Jubilee Park behind Ross County FC's Global Energy Stadium in Dingwall - will boost the coffers of the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association, in memory of the late Moraig MacAngus, who suffered from the condition.
She was the grandmother of Ross County-daft Roddy Gray - whose granddad Bill MacAngus played for the club between 1947 and 1950.
Explained Roddy: "After the success of last year’s charity game between Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle in Glasgow, the charity game heads home to the Highlands."
Last year's match - won by County fans following a tense penalty shoot-out - raised £1,000 for the charity.
Ross County's senior team sent fans away happy after the final game of the season with a 1-0 victory over ICT. The defeat ensured ICT's dream of European football for the first time next season came to naught.
When members of the Ross County and ICT football supporters groups clash again - this time in Dingwall - there are sure to be some scores to settle!
The overall aim is to raise cash for the charity and bring together supporters of both clubs behind a great cause.
Added Roddy: "With both Highland rivals managing to reach the top 6 in this year’s Scottish Premier League, and it being the Staggies’ first ever season in the top flight, it has been nothing short of phenomenal.
"This gives both sides a chance to celebrate the fact that Highland football is alive and well in the top flight of Scottish football."
Roddy, co-founder of the Ross County Central Belt Supporters Club, was brought up in Stirlingshire.
Fans will also be able to try their luck in a raffle, with some signed goodies from both clubs up for grabs.
Everyone is welcome to attend and spectators will be invited to donate £3 to watch the game, which kicks off at 3pm. All proceeds will go to the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association.
