FOOD sponsored by Ross-shire charity Blythswood Care has been distributed to hundreds of families affected by floods in Serbia.

Blythswood’s head of retail Alan Swanson visited the area and helped local charity Love Your Neighbour deliver flour and other essential food items.

“People’s lives have been turned upside down,” he said. “Some had the contents of their homes outside to dry.

“One 79-year-old lady’s home had been completely inundated and she had nowhere to sleep. Our partners arranged to get her a new bed.”

The relief project is expected to continue for several weeks.
