A Ross County Football Club official has confirmed that a stadium steward was taken to hospital after a pitch invasion by Celtic supporters at last night’s Premiership match in Dingwall.

The steward is understood to have suffered a broken wrist, while other stewards were less-seriously injured, after some of the Glasgow club’s travelling support spilled onto the pitch immediately following the winning goal.

Celtic, with 10-men, claimed victory in the seventh minute of added time through Anthony Ralston’s finish, sparking scenes of bedlam in the stadium’s north stand.

There was also vandalism of seating and other damage, and unconfirmed reports of Celtic fans gaining access to County’s Jail End stand, which houses home supporters.

Social media was ablaze with condemnation of the visiting supporters' conduct in the aftermath of the game.

Ross County TV pundit Stephen Craigan, the former Motherwell defender, was also highly-critical of Celtic fans who spilled past police and stewards from the moment Ralston scored.

The Northern Irishman, during commentary, said: “Some of the scenes we are seeing on the pitch... this is totally unacceptable.

"We know it's a big goal, (but) the scenes we are seeing at the minute are very unsavoury,.

"It's taking away from a wonderful header from Tony Ralston and everything that's gone his way."

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou appeared to brush over the end of match scenes in his post-match interview, saying: “When you score a last-second goal, not a last-minute one, in front of them then you can imagine there’d be some over-exuberance there.

“It was great for them because they have had a long journey and there’s a real bond developing between the team and the fans.

“Nights like tonight help that as well. The fans have had a long drive up and it’s a long drive home. I hope they have calmed down and stay safe on the roads back.”

The club said today that the issue was a police matter.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police Scotland is liaising with Ross County Football Club following incidents of disorder during the clubs match with Celtic on Wednesday, 16 December, 2021.

"One man aged 32 has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at court at a later date. Enquiries are ongoing."
