Arising out of the above case, Andrew Skinner, Shore Street, Shandwick, was charged with attempting to rescue Hugh Ross from the custody of the police, and obstructing them in their execution of their duty. He pleaded guilty and
was fined £5, or 30 days' imprisonment.
Dingwall Lawn Tennis Club opened its courts on Thursday.
Unfortunately rain fell and play was impossible in the circumstances. The rain, however, was much required and the courts are greatly improved thereby. A very large number of members and friends were present, Mr J. H. Allan, Commercial Bank, and Mrs Allan, were entertained to tea.
The members are now actively engaged in practice games, and the scene each evening is a very animated one. The season promises to be a most successful one.
Invergordon is to receive a German gun as a war trophy. Already the town has a German machine gun, and this is exhibited on the platform of the Town Hall.

Wednesday's draw for the Coca Cola Cup saw Ross County pull out a home tie against Glasgow amateurs Queen's Park.
The match, to be played on Wednesday, August 10, could pose more off the field problems than on for the Dingwall side. Reconstruction of the ground is in full swing, and manager Bobby Wilson thought that the club may have to make the tie all ticket.
On the playing front the manager was very happy with the draw, but does not expect an easy time of it.
