Eight jobs have been lost at an Easter Ross building manufacturer following a “pause in production” of its modular designs.

Carbon Dynamic was saved from closure in 2018 when fellow Ross business Pat Munro Group stepped in to buy it out of administration to allow the firm to continue to trade and save some of its 40 jobs.

The business, trading under new name Carbon Dynamic (Scotland) Ltd, has continued to produce environmentally sensitive buildings designed to have a minimal carbon footprint for clients such as aquaculture giant Mowi.

However, Carbon Dynamic has halted production temporarily at its Invergordon facility to allow for restructuring and re-tooling.

A spokeswoman for the group said it was part of a strategic move towards the production of a new range of sustainable luxury lodge designs, as opposed to the bespoke one-off projects Carbon Dynamic is known for.

She said: “Due to a necessary temporary pause in production, eight production line staff were left without work and were issued with redundancy notices. Alternative interim positions within the wider group were offered to all who wished them and we hope to re-commence production as soon as possible.”

The company hopes to re-start production on its own designs “in the near future”.

“We remain committed to developing off-site construction solutions, as we are certain that it forms part of the future for the delivery of new homes,” she said.
