Highland rapist Kim Avis has two months added to 15-year sentence after offence inside Edinburgh prison
A Highland rapist who faked his own death to avoid justice and was later jailed for 15 years has had two months added to his sentence.
Kim Avis, who was a market trader in the Highland capital, was sentenced to the additional two months at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week after being convicted of having a personal communication device on him in prison.
Avis has been jailed since his 2021 conviction for rape, sexual abuse and for going on the run.

He had flown to the USA in February 2019 while on bail over his rape charges, and then faked his own death.
But he was traced in Colorado Springs by US Marshals less than half a year after his disappearance.
He was subsequently deported to the UK to face trial and was subsequently convicted at the High Court in Glasgow of raping three women, as well as the attempted rape of one of them when she was only 12, and the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.
In total, he was found guilty of 14 charges that dated back to between 2006 and 2017.
He was imprisoned for 12 years for the rapes and other sex offences, with a further three years added on for his disappearance while on bail and attempt to avoid justice by faking his own death.
His 15 year sentence has now had another two months added to it after he was found guilty of having the communication device in his possession while in prison in Edinburgh.
He had denied the charge but was found guilty and was subsequently sentenced at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
