Paul Queen is hosting an online quiz twice a week and has already raised in excess of £1100 through Go Fund Me donations.

He is using the cash to buy essential items for frontline workers in Moray and the Highlands.

Paul, a manager at the Tesco Insches store in Inverness, was the resident quizmaster at The Granary pub in Elgin before the lockdown took effect on March 23.

"I originally started doing the quiz on a Sunday night for a bit of fun and wasn't expecting it to take of the way it has," he said.

"I have hundreds of people doing it now all over the world.

"A good friend of mine is in the Covid ward at Raigmore Hospital and I also have another friend who is a nurse."

Paul is using the Twitch streaming site and Kahoot quiz app to host the quizzes.

"People can play on their laptop or mobile and there is no lag or delay.

"It has grown arms and legs and I didn't want paid for it, so decided to set up a Go Fund Me account which I could use to buy essential items for health staff.

"So far I have bought them shower gel, shampoo, handwash, hand creams, treats and meals.

"I have a friend who is a nurse and she is looking after my mate who is in the Covid ward.

"He was in a real bad way and in an induced coma, unable to breathe on his own but now he has started moving his eyelids."

By day Paul, who used to be a DJ in Gran Canaria, is dealing with the impact of the virus as a Tesco manager.

"For the first two to three weeks there was constant panic buying but that seems to have eased now."

He has been stunned by the response to his quizzes.

"It has been overwhelming in terms of the response and feedback. It has really taken off."

Paul is due to drop off a consignment of items for health workers at Dr Gray's Hospital and the ambulance station in Elgin on Wednesday, having already donated items in Inverness and Alness.

He will continue with his quizzes as long as the demand is there and will keep raising funds to support the efforts of frontline NHS staff.
