Further progress on an off-road link between two Ross-shire communities has been welcomed.

The Peffery Way Association is working towards linking Dingwall and Strathpeffer by a path which will provide a safe route for walkers and cyclists.

The group has been working with Highland Conservation on part of the route near Fodderty.

It said: "So exciting to see so much progress being made by Highland Conservation levelling off the tricky section of the path beyond the seat on Fodderty section."

Bird-loving volunteers have been able to spot stonechat, swallows, yellowhammers and buzzards in recent days.

Supporters following the progress have hailed the latest section of work. One wrote: "What a brilliant way to create an accessible to all route across this really difficult bit of ground." Another said: "Amazing progress! Can’t wait!"
