REPAIRS to a faulty transformer will result in power being temporarily cut to almost 150 homes in Coigach, engineers have warned.

Today's repairs follow a power cut which affected 19 customers in seven Coigach postcodes at 9.36am.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said that the outage was caused by a faulty transformer which had reached the end of its operational life.

Its engineers hope to install a new transformer and restore power by 2pm, but in order to carry out the repairs safely, it said it will have to temporarily isolate electricity supplies to 147 customers.

A spokeswoman said: The fault was caused by a transformer and is currently affecting 19 customers who have lost supply. A new transformer is on its way to site.

"When it arrives, further isolation of supplies will be needed in order to install the new transformer safely. A total of 147 customers are likely to be affected. All customers are due to be back on supply by 2pm today.

"SSEN would like to apologise for this fault and to assure customers that we are working as quickly and safely as possible, to get everyone back on supply."

If you need more information, call SSEN on 105 or send the company a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity) and quote reference 'GF1513'.

The seven postcodes affected by the initial fault were:

  • IV26 2YG
  • IV26 2YH
  • IV26 2YJ
  • IV26 2YL
