HUNDREDS of Wester Ross homes were without power this afternoon after a fault on the local grid.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said that the power cut, which was related to a fault on an electric pole, occurred at 12.04pm.

A spokesman said that engineers were already on site and had to isolate the local supply for safety reasons while they conducted the repair.

Some 571 homes and businesses in the IV54 postcode area were affected.

Thirty-one separate postcodes, centred mostly on the Lochcarron, Loch Carron and Attadale areas, were affected by the outage.

SSEN said it expected power to be restored to all properties by 3.30pm.
