COMMUNITIES in the north-west of the Applecross peninsula were without power this morning after further gale force winds brought on by Storm Dennis.

Power was knocked out shortly after 10.20pm last night (Sunday), Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks confirmed.

It said engineers were now on site but added that power may not be restored until 3pm.

“We’re sorry for the loss of supply," said a spokesman. "We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can. If you need more information, please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity) and quote reference 'GA5679'."

Affected postcodes include IV54 8XU, IV54 8XX, IV54 8XL, and IV54 8ND. For updates visit its website.

Meanwhile, CalMac was warning of further possible disruption to its Ullapool-Stornoway ferry on Monday.

All sailings were due to go ahead on Monday, but it advised passengers that “all sailing will be liable to weather disruption or cancellation at short notice” and urged people to check its website before travel.
