A MAN who has provided protection for stars such as Posh Spice and Tom Jones has taken a leap into his next venture on Dingwall High Street.

The opening of a poster, art and toy shop is quite a contrast for former security guard Robert Macleod, who has traded Dubai for Dingwall so he can run his own business.

While Covid-19 effectively put an end to his security work, it also opened a door to new venture, Poster World.

Mr Macleod is selling posters, paintings and various other forms of movie and TV memorabilia in a move that is a vote of confidence for the county town’s High Street.

The “leap of faith” saw him start with online sales through eBay and Amazon, which, he says, went very well.

He said: “Obviously, Covid was a huge concern and I wondered if I was making the right choice by opening up a shop in Dingwall. I spent the next few months putting my business plan together and waiting for the right location to become available.

“My luck came in September when the old sweetie shop came up, so I grabbed the chance to take over the shop. This gave me the opportunity to sign the contract and get the support of my suppliers to help me in providing the fit-out and the stock for the shop and getting it ready to open as soon as possible.

“Opening Poster World is something new to Dingwall and the area, a place where you can come and get gifts related to the movie and TV industry from posters, artworks, mugs, pop vinyls, collectible items and much more.

“We will be catering for customers not into these items with a good supply of art, including canvas and prints from the Highlands, as well as a framing service.”
