MORE than a dozen motorists have been reported for speeding and another for careless driving during a three day police awareness operation in Lochalsh and on Skye.

Officers stopped more than 80 vehicles between Tuesday and Thursday, with 14 drivers caught speeding and several others reported for "construction & use and documentation offences".

Road Policing Constable Shaun Knox said: "Officers based themselves on Skye for three days and worked on the roads across the island and on key routes in the Lochalsh area on the mainland.

"A substantial element of this work is about educating drivers and this included talking to a number of foreign drivers and offering advice on driving on Scotland's roads.

"Road safety is a priority in the Skye and Lochalsh area and we will continue to provide a presence on the roads in the area going forward."
