Police Scotland are still investigating the site of the Dingwall High Street cannabis farm after a drugs bust at the ex-Factory Shop on Wednesday.

A police van and car were seen outside the premises after the force said it had closed the High Street between the traffic lights and Tulloch Street.

Police said: “Dingwall High Street is closed to traffic between the A862 and Tulloch Street for public safety as essential work is carried out on a premises.

“Drivers are urged to use an alternative route.”

Yesterday we broke the news about Wednesday’s raid of the former Factory Shop leading to the officers arresting and charging two men aged 31 and 22.

Sources say the police netted a haul of up to 2000 plants and unverified video shows dozens of plants and bags of the Class B drug from what looks like the inside of the building.

But the operation has sparked a range of questions locally leaving many puzzled how a cannabis farm could spring up and be maintained in such a busy area.

On one side of the building there is the High Street with most of the town’s business, leading to foot and vehicle traffic.

Towards the rear of the building is Mart Road with near constant movement as it connects most of the west of the town with Tesco and Lidl.

Directly to the rear of the building are two busy blocks of flats – including one that has seen the police called numerous times due to anti-social behaviour allegations.

Nearby residents said there was no outward smell of cannabis until the bust on Wednesday but since then they could detect a powerful smell of the drug.
