Highland Council has given the go ahead for a disused former police station in Fortrose to get a fresh start as a bakery.

Planners have issued a certificate which states that the proposal was lawful under current planning regulations.

The Bakhoos Bakery had applied to the council to install a small retail bakery in part of the High Street building.

According to local authority documents it is a “permitted development” which requires no further planning permission.

The application form states that the bakery would only occupy the single storey part of the building at the site’s eastern end, with the remainder of the building being untouched.

It would involve minimal internal partition changes and equipment installed for the preparation and sale of baked goods and some drinks for takeaway.

A counter would be near the front door.
