DASHCAM footage is being sought by police investigating a one-vehicle crash in Sutherland that left the driver in hospital.

A 56-year-old woman, who has not been named, was recovering in Raigmore Hospital yesterday following the crash at around 7.35am on Monday.

Her blue Kia Picanto left the road at Doll, two miles south of Brora, before colliding with a number of trees. She had been travelling south at the time.

Police said she suffered "serious but non-life threatening injuries" in the crash and added that her condition was stable at the time of their most recent update on Tuesday morning.

Police Constable Lewis Macleod, of the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit said: "We are working to establish the full circumstances which led to this crash and would urge anyone who may have seen it to get in touch.

"In particular we would be keen to speak to anyone who was on the road around 7.30am on Monday and may have dashcam footage.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 0509 of 4 January."
