Police have named the 30-year-old man who died following a motorcycle crash in Caithness at the weekend.

He was Marc Mackenzie, from Castletown.

The single-motorcycle accident happened sometime after 3am on Sunday on the A836 in the village's Main Street and involved a black Aprilia SX125.

Mr Mackenzie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road Policing Sergeant Kate Park said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Mackenzie at this difficult time.

"Our investigations into the incident continue and I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or saw the motorcycle prior to the crash, to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0544 of March 14.

The road was closed for about nine hours to allow for investigations.
