POLICE in Ross-shire have appealed for witnesses to an accident which resulted in a teenager being airlifted to hospital after a collision between a car and a motor-home.

It happened on the A87 Glen Shiel road on Saturday afternoon at around 4.30pm.

The collison involved a blue Hyundai and a white Fiat Ducato motor-home and happebed about 20 miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh.

Police said: "Around 4.30pm, a blue Hyundai was travelling on the A87 from Balmacara when it appeared to lose control and crossed into the westbound carriageway, colliding with a white Fiat Ducato motor-home.

"Emergency services were contacted and a 16-year-old male passenger from within the Hyundai was airlifted to hospital in Inverness.

"The 26-year-old male driver of the car was not injured in the incident.

"The 27-year-old female driver of the motor-home was also taken to hospital as a precaution."

The road was closed for several hours as collision investigators conducted enquiries at the scene.

Sergeant Angus MacLeod said: “Our enquiries are under way to establish exactly what has happened. I am appealing to other motorists who were in the area at the time to contact us with any information. In particular, I would ask drivers with dash-cam devices to check their footage as they may have images which could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2676
