Celebration of life of Black Isle woman (33) killed in tragic riding accident to be staged next week

A CELEBRATION of the life of a Black Isle woman who died following a tragic riding accident will be held next week.

The family of Mhairi Mackay (nee Goodwin), who was 33, have asked mourners to wear bright colours to her funeral next week.

A funeral notice shared at the request of her family said she died as the result of the accident on June 21.

Ms Mackay,of Mackeddie Drive in Fortrose, was the wife of husband Mike.

She was the daughter of Walter and the late Helen and the sister of Lewis and Stuart.

She is described as "beloved grand-daughter of Pat and the late Bill and the late Hilda and Walter, treasured daughter-in-law of Ailsa, a much-loved niece, sister-in-law, auntie, step-daughter, cousin and good friend to many".

A funeral notice posted by John Fraser & Son and shared at her family's request says that a celebration of Mhairi’s life will take place on Friday, July 8.

It will be held at 1pm in the Funeral Home of John Fraser & Son, Chapel Street, Inverness and will be followed by a private cremation.

The notice says that bright colours are preferred and that donations in memory of Mhairi for Highland Hospice and Equine Grass Sickness can be given at the ceremony.

A celebration of Mhairi’s life will take place on Friday 8th July at 1pm in the Funeral Home of John Fraser & Son, Chapel Street, Inverness to which all are welcome to attend; thereafter cremation private. Bright colours preferred. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Mhairi for Highland Hospice and Equine Grass Sickness can be given at the ceremony.
