SOME homes on the Coigach peninsula and the Black Isle were without power this morning (Thursday) after engineers switched off the electricity for “essential work”.

Seven postcodes in Coigach lost power at around 10am, while three postcodes in the Duncanston and Knockbain area of the Black Isle had their supplies cut around 9am. Power in both communities is expected to be restored by about 1pm.

“We're sorry for the loss of supply,” said a spokesman for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), who described it as a “planned” outage.

“We have turned off your electricity supply to allow us to safely carry out essential work to our electrical equipment.

“By doing this, it'll help us to improve the reliability of our service to you for the future.”

“You will have received a letter from us confirming your power will be interrupted with specific information relating to your property. If you did not receive this letter, you can assume your power will not be interrupted”
