Viking Neptune pays a visit to Invergordon after turning heads in Ullapool

A CRUISE liner that turned heads in the Wester Ross last week was doing the same in the east of the county yesterday.

Viking Neptune glided into Ullapool last Friday in glorious sunshine having set out from Tilbury in Essex and made stops in Dover, Dublin, Liverpool, Holyhead and Belfast.

She made a visit to Invergordon yesterday before heading onwards to Lerwick in Shetland today ahead of the final leg of her current voyage to Bergen in Norway.

The Viking Neptune is classed as a small ship, measuring around 745 ft (288 metres) in length and carrying up to 930 passengers.

The Invergordon visit is one of 118 cruise ships expected to call at Invergordon in the 2024 season. That equates to around 230,000 visitors, according to predicted figures shared at the beginning of the season.

The port is expecting another three liners over the coming three days - the Costo Favolosa capable of carrying up to 3300 passengers and 1100 crew on Wednesday; the chartered Le Durmont d’Urville on Thursday (250 passenger capacity) and the Viking Venus on Friday (up to 930 passengers).

The giant MSC Preziosa, capable of carrying 4000 passengers and 1300 crew, is expected to berth at Invergordon on Monday.
