A spokesperson for the club said: "The night was a big success. Everyone had a great time. It was really special to be able to put a few smiles on faces right before Christmas. I hope it's something that we can do again later in the year.

"We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to tonight by donating sandwiches and soup, and to everyone who paid us a visit and donated towards our causes. Thanks also to Dave and the Masonic Lodge for providing the venue for the night.

"Special thanks must go to the pupils at Tain Royal Academy though, who sent Mr Moir along, apron in hand, to serve up a large spread and a big pan of tomato soup they expertly prepared earlier today. What an effort!"

Funds raised from generous donations on the night are to be split evenly between the club's senior and youth teams, and mental health support charity, Mikeysline.

At the end of the night, the club ensured that there was nothing left to waste by sharing leftover sandwiches with residents and staff at Innis Mhor care home.
