HEAVY overnight falls of snow last week prompted hundreds of people across Ross-shire to make the most of it as part of their lockdown exercise routine.

The young – and young heart – dug out their sledges and headed for whatever snow-encrusted slopes they could find nearby, golf courses being a favourite for some while others found hills that have been used for that purpose for generations.

The snow combined with plunging sub-zero temperatures caused chaos on the transportation network and forced the closure of many schools which have been open during the latest period of Covid restrictions for the children of key workers.
