A FANTASTIC turnout and some amazing displays made an Easter Ross horticultural society show a great day out at the weekend.
Alness Horticultural Society organisers were thrilled with both the green-fingered prowess and artistic talent of those who got involved with the event on Saturday and also the response from the public.
A spokeswoman said later: “Thank you so much to everyone who supported our show. That includes Ardross Alness Bowling Club, the
judges, the stewards, the committee, our additional helpers, like the girls from Alness JogScotland, the prize-presenter and last but not least our exhibitors and visitors. Thanks to you all!”
The spotlight fell on flowers, vegetables, pot plants, fruit and baking at the Autumn Show.
Handing out the prizes was Ben Stoltman, father of world’s strongest brothers, Tom and Luke. He features prominently in the latest episode of the YouTube series, The World’s Strongest
Family, in which he is accompanied by son Tom in a guided tour of his pride and joy garden.
The group is a small local club that runs a number of horticultural based events in and around Alness and encourages people to grow their own produce.
The Eilean Dubh Care Home in Fortrose continued its green-fingered streak after recent success at the Black Isle Show’s flower show.
A number of successes were logged. A spokeswoman said: “We were delighted as the standards were very high.
“A huge thank you to everyone who made us welcome.”
