Ross-shire children learn about rural life at Black Isle event

Local primary school pupils have been learning all about food, farming and the countryside over three days at the Black Isle Showfield this week.

Run by RHET (Royal Highland Educational Trust) Highland a host of sessions have seen children enjoy both talks and practical sessions designed to demonstrate the wide diversity of activities and challenges that make up a life on the farm.

Pollinators, soil science, dairy and beef farming, crops and renewables were just some of the areas explored in a fun and interactive way.

Altogether more than 500 pupils took part including children with addiitonal needs, in the event’s first day orghanised especially for them, which took place on Thursday.
