Thousands of people, many making the trip from Ross-shire, showed their support for Scottish independence by participating in a March for Freedom in Inverness yesterday.

It was organised following last month's general election and ahead of the UK's exit from the EU next week.

Several politicians took part in the event, including the SNP's Westminster leader Ian Blackford, MP for Ross, Skye and Lochaber.

Ahead of the march, he aid: "Let the Highlands rally to the call, Scotland’s right to choose our future. We will have a referendum, let us keep building the momentum towards an independent Scotland in the EU."

Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey MP Drew Hendry, who was also there, said: "There was an amazing turnout for the march through Inverness today. Well done to everyone who took part and lined the streets."

Other politicians included MSPs John Finnie and Shona Robison.
