As ever it has been a packed year of events and occurrences across the Highlands - and for much of it our award-winning photographers have been there to capture the moment.

From royal and political visits to community events, sporting triumphs and more Calum Mackay and James Mackenzie have skillfully grabbed the shot that paints the proverbial thousand words.
