A HIGHLAND student’s photos are becoming an internet sensation after being viewed thousands of times.

Ben Ferguson (21), who is finishing an accountancy and finance degree in Edinburgh before embarking on a new career in special needs education, says sharing his photos with others has really helped him during lockdown.

Mr Ferguson, who is a volunteer with Inverness-based charity Specials Needs Action Project (SNAP), has been overwhelmed by the reaction to his photographs online.

“I took up photography when my good friend Owen Hope got me into it,” he said.

“I love travelling around Scotland and taking photos, and because that has been really difficult over the last year, it has been lovely to share my photos online.”

This time last year, Mr Ferguson and his friend Owen hitch-hiked to Seville to raise money for SNAP and Edinburgh charity The Yard.

Mr Ferguson, from Lochardil, added: “I am going to and take a year out to travel and to see even more of Scotland. I will be taking more photos and sharing them. The response to my photos has been incredible – but it is sincerely thanks to my friend Owen, who is also from Inverness, who got me into it.

“I hope that the photographs bring joy and hope to other people, as they do to me. One day, hopefully soon, I will be able to continue to enjoy Scotland and all its wonderful sights.”
