SIGNIFICANT damage was caused to a building in Beauly after a fire broke out in a launderette in the early hours of Friday morning.

Emergency services were called at 4.58am to reports of the fire, in Station Road.

Four fire engines and a high vehicle were initially called out. Firefighters used four hose-reels, two main jets and eight breathing apparatus to tackle the fire. The crews finally left the scene at 12.03pm, but were expected to return later on Friday to carry out further inspections.

The fire also caused disruption to local postal services, with Beauly's Royal Mail delivery office unable to open due to its close proximity to the launderette. Royal Mail was warning of delays to deliveries in the IV4 and IV6 areas as a result.
