A step back towards normality was eagerly embraced in an Easter Ross community when it staged an outdoor community market at the weekend.

The market in the town’s Rose Garden was organised by Tain and District Development Trust (TDDT) and well-supported by stallholders and members of the public.

TDDT unveiled its new Easter Ross Peninsula design tote bag, which was free of charge to browsers spending more than £10 at any stall and is now available for just £1 from The Hub.

Sarah MacKenzie of TDDT said that while there had been some trepidation about restarting the event with the easing of coronavirus restrictions, it was warmly welcomed and blessed by glorious sunshine on Saturday. Covid-19 track and trace measures were in place.

One visitor summed up the feelings of many later with a posting to the group’s social media site.

Elaine Quinn wrote: “Great market today nice to see some different stalls and definitely nice to see the regular stalls. At last a little piece of normality!”
