PICTURES: Return of Fortrose and Rosemarkie Classic Vehicle Rally attracts huge turnout and some very smart wheels to the Black Isle
A HUGE public turnout greeted the welcome return of the Fortrose and Rosemarkie Classic Vehicle Rally on Saturday.
More than 140 dream machines rolled into Fortrose after an earlier rally outside Dingwall Mart.
One car was driven from Caithness while Tim Moore, a regular attender, drove his 1947 Rover from Portree.

Chanonry Scouting, under the leadership of Caroline Cumming, provided excellent food and refreshments throughout the afternoon doing a “fantastic job” according to one of the organisers, John Mackenzie.
He said: “Lots of very positive feedback has been received. Our raffle did well and is our main source of income as no entry is charged. The City of Inverness Youth Pipe Band played for us throughout the afternoon and we were delighted with their performance.
“Also, during the afternoon, I presented an honorary membership certificate to 92-year-old Alex Mann who has been a huge supporter of our rally since the very first one which we held in 2003. Alex is now in a care home but he was brought along by family members.
“As chairman of the rally committee I’m extremely grateful for the massive work put in by the committee members in order to stage this event, the first since pre-Covid to be held in Fortrose. I was inundated with offers of help on the day from members of the public who should receive a big thank you. It was good to see many younger members taking an interest as they are the future of the rally.
“A massive thank you to all who helped make this a memorable event, one the best to be held.”
