A TRIO of Dingwall Primary students has pledged to donate their hair to charity.

Emily Kubat (7), Rebecca Mowet (6) and Megan Stewart (11), who all attend the school, will be getting their hair cut on June 24 at 3pm to support the Little Princess Trust.

They have also set up a Just Giving page to raise money for the charity.

Emily's mother, Donna Maxwell, said she is incredibly proud of her daughter and her friends.

"I think they are absolutely incredible, I think they are amazing in what they are doing.

"I am sort of speechless in a way that they are prepared to do that for people that they have never met, we are all so proud of every single one of them.

"The school have been really supportive of the initiative, they are helping us to organise it all and they are letting them doing in the playground so that friends and family can watch.

"It's great that their schoolmates are very curious about why they are doing this and what's going to happen with the hair when it's been cut."

Acting Depute Head Teacher at Dingwall Primary School, Sara Macaskill, said: "We felt this was a prime example of our pupils showing kindness and compassion and help people in difficult times and that's what we want for all of our pupils to recognise.

"The girls are doing something that fits in well with our values and ethos as a school so as it will also be end of term, we thought it would be a lovely thing for our schooll to celebrate their effort.

"In the future we want to move to a model in which we focus on a few selected charities over the year, as having many charity initiatives can be an extra cost for families who are already struggling, so we want to be more sustainable and treasuring our community going forward."

You can support the cause by donating on Donna's Emily, Rebecca and Megan's Hair Donation Just Giving page.
