Performer returns to Dingwall club where she made debut aged 7





A BLACK Isle performer returned to wow the audience at the Dingwall club where she made her debut at the tender age of seven.

A large audience attended Dingwall and District Accordion and Fiddle Club where Lindsay Weir from Culbokie was guest artiste on accordion.

Lindsay first played at the club at the age of seven and since then has moved on to playing at many accordion clubs and functions throughout Scotland and beyond. Lindsay was ably accompanied on piano by her husband Colin Garvin, also well known for his ability on piano and accordion.

The programme was mainly a varied selection of favourite pipe marches, jigs and reels with a beautiful rendering of the psalm tune, The Bays of Harris.

Something different was The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from the opera Nabucco.

It was lovely to have two young players return. Sophie Stewart from Conon Bridge and Donald Barclay from Rogart each played a lovely selection of Gaelic waltzes.

Eric Bell, on his second visit to the club, played Dumbarton Drums and Highland Cathedral beautifully on accordion. His wife Carol made her debut at the club accompanying him on piano.

Supporting players on accordion were Monica MacLean, Susie Simpson and James Corbett, Heather Lyon on fiddle, Christine Matheson on piano and Maggie Jamieson on drums.

There is a change of date for the next meeting. It will be on Wednesday, April 16 when the Kirkjuvagr Band from Orkney will be entertaining.
