Anyone who attended an event at Nairn Royal British Legion last month has been advised to self-isolate until today and be tested for Covid-19.

The appeal has been issued by NHS Highland and relates to the event held there on November 27.

In a statement Dr Jenny Wares, the consultant in public health medicine (health protection), said: "We have identified an outbreak of Covid-19 linked to the aforementioned event held at the Royal British Legion on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

"We have identified those that attended the event as close contacts. As such, you should self-isolate and seek a PCR test. Tests can be accessed by booking through NHS Inform.

"In light of the significant number of cases identified as part of the outbreak, a risk assessment has been undertaken by NHS Highland’s Health Protection Team as part of the outbreak management.

"As such, regardless of your vaccination status and whether you are in receipt of a negative PCR test result, you should self-isolate for ten days from the date of your last exposure. As such, you should isolate until Monday, December 6, and can return to normal activities from Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

"If you develop symptoms during your isolation period, a further PCR test should be booked."

Typical symptoms of Covid-19 are a new continuous cough, a high temperature or fever and a loss of, or change in, normal taste or smell.

Dr Wares said: "However, people with Covid-19 can present with a wide range of symptoms including headache, sore muscles and joints, tiredness, sore throat, cold-like symptoms and diarrhoea and vomiting.

"We do appreciate the inconvenience involved but want to thank you for your support in reducing the potential transmission of Covid-19 within our communities. If you have any queries about the information within this letter please do not hesitate to get in touch."
