Parklands Pride returns for 2024 as care homes in Fortrose and Tain set to host ‘celebrations of life, love and diversity’

Parklands Pride returns to the Highlands this weekend as two north care homes celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

Eilean Dubh in Fortrose and Innis Mhor in Tain – part of Parklands Care Homes – will both host Pride events, with performers including Inverness singer and entertainer Sugar Browne, Blair Teska of trad band Tuath featuring Jarad Rowan, and Highland drag legend Venus Guytrap.

Eilean Dubh in Fortrose will host a Pride picnic from 2pm this Saturday (July 20) with performances from Blair Teska with Jarad Rowan, and Sugar Browne, while Innis Mhor in Tain will see performances from Venus Guytrap and Blair Teska with Jarad Rowan this Sunday (July 21) from 2pm.

Organiser Donald Morrison, director of communications at Parklands Care Homes said: “Last year’s Parklands Pride festival was a wonderful celebration of life, love and diversity.

“It was a vivid reminder of how powerful it can be when communities come together to support each other.

“This year, we have a fantastic line-up of local performers, all of whom are passionate about supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

“These events are more than just entertainment; they are a powerful expression of our solidarity and pride.”

Now in its second year, Parklands Pride has become a symbol of the care group’s commitment to inclusion and diversity. As a result of its efforts in 2023, which drew praise from Drag Race personality Michelle Visage, Parklands was a finalist in this year’s Proud Scotland Awards in the Charity/Group Initiative Award.

As well as hosting its own Pride events, Parklands was also a sponsor of Highland Pride 2024.
