A NATIONAL holiday park operator with a site in East Sutherland, has announced a significant investment into its business ahead of the 2021 season.

Parkdean Resorts which runs Grannie’s Heilan' Hame holiday park at Embo, is spending £70 million on its sites across the UK.

Grannie’s Heilan' Hame, Embo, welcomed around 20,000 visitors in 2020.

Some £230,000 is being targeted specifically at the Embo resort, which overlooks the Dornoch Firth.

Business managers say that the funding for the East Sutherland park will be spent on “installing new accommodation and improving sea defences”.

Parkdean Resorts offers its customers both caravans and lodges, although it does not have any lodges at the Embo site.

The new pitches currently under development at the site are being reserved for “ownership customers” – those who own the caravan rather than rent it.

Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame employs almost 60 staff in the holiday season and is currently hiring for a number of roles across sales, food, beverage and housekeeping. Facilities at the site include a bar and restaurant as well as an indoor pool and children’s play area.

Parkdean Resorts chief executive Steve Richards said: “Despite the most challenging of years, we’re continuing to invest in our parks, creating an even better experience for holidaymakers and holiday home owners in 2021.

“With industry-leading Covid-safe standards, we’re looking forward to welcoming people safely back to our resorts, to enjoy everything our parks and the surround areas have to offer.

“We know how reliant the local economy is on tourism and we’re confident that we can help the region recover by welcoming holidaymakers to enjoy a well deserved staycation in Scotland.”

Parkdean owns and operates 67 holiday parks in areas of natural beauty across the UK.
