Gairloch pair rescued from water after coastguard helicopter sent to the scene

Two men fishing from a kayak-type boat off Gairloch ended up in the water and had to be rescued on Monday of this week

The Inverness based coastguard search and rescue helicopter was in the area training at the time and was redirected to the scene in Wester Ross, with.strong offshore winds an issue at the time.

A boat from a nearby campsite rescued the pair from the water.

One of the men, whose condition gave cause for concern, was checked over by the helicopter paramedic before being handed over to the Scottish Ambulance Service. His condition is unknown.

The other man was declared fit after the incident which occurred at around 3.30pm.
