Heartbroken owner calls off search for missing wolfdog

A heartbroken dog owner, whose young Saarloos Wolfdog went missing more than three weeks ago has called off the search.

Pieter-Paul Groenhuijsen, general manager of Alladale Wilderness Reserve. has thanked local people for their "kind messages, advice, help and support" over the last few weeks.

He posted on the reserve's Facebook page: "I'm afraid we’re at a point we’re going to have to be realistic and admit she is not coming back.....I'm calling an end to the search, because there is nowhere left to look."

An extensive search was initially undertaken in the Ardgay and Bonar Bridge area and then further afield for the one-year-old dog, named Logan, which ran off after coming into season for the first time.

Flyers were circulated locally and put up on fence posts. Social media posts about her disappearance reached more than 100,000 people.

Mr Groenhuijsen even engaged two drone pilots in the search for Logan.
