Sellers return from Dingwall sheep sale with 'pockets bursting at the seams' after 'best trade ever witnessed at this time of year'

OUTSTANDING trade at a Ross-shire sheep sale was yesterday reported by a local mart.
Dingwall and Highland Marts yesterday sold 5586 store sheep of all classes.
Lambs (3,982) averaged £78.63 and sold to £136 for a Texel cross from 3 Rockfield Village, Portmahomack.
Ewes (1,414) averaged £60.21 and sold to £142 for a Texel cross from Kintradwell Estate, Brora.
Rams (119) sold to £410 for a Texel from Kennachy, Forss.
Feeding Sheep (71) sold to £112 for a Texel cross wedder from Pithogarty, Tain.
The verdict: “Another great gathering of the hills to Dingwall was evident this week as another momentous number of sheep for this time of year was sold in the Highland town. An outstanding trade greeted vendors who ventured home with their pockets bursting at the seams as they received the best trade for sheep ever witnessed at this time of year.
"All classes of lambs were sharper than the last sale and many more could easily have been sold. Another strong ewe trade was witnessed keeping in line with the ever-increasing values we’ve seen this week.”
