A driver who stopped in the middle of the road despite a green traffic light was found to be drink-driving after being breathalysed by police.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Yvonne Smith's reading was almost four times the legal drink-drive limit.

Police recorded the alcohol in her system at 81mcgs per 100ml of breath when the limit is 22mcgs.

Smith admitted driving in Kyle of Lochalsh at 3am on April 13 and was fined £420.

She was also banned from driving for a year but will obtain a three month discount if she successfully completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course, which she must fund herself.
