Covid-19 coronavirus restrictions' impact on travel from elsewhere in Scotland sparks temporary closure of Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Carrbridge, Highland

One of the Highlands' most popular attractions has just announced that it is to close temporarily and furlough its staff due to the effects of coronavirus restrictions.
Bosses at the Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Carrbridge have said that it has been a tough decision to make but they will be closing the gates from the end of Sunday (December 13) due to the fall in visitor numbers.
Restrictions on travel from Scotland's most populated areas including the Central Belt mean that customer numbers have dropped well below their usual levels in the run-up to Christmas. Residents of areas in Tier 3 and Tier 4 are not allowed to travel from their regions under the coronavirus restrictions.
A Landmark spokesman told our sister newspaper, the Strathy: "This temporary closure is due to the unprecedented low visitor numbers we’ve been experiencing due to the travel restrictions that are currently in place across Scotland.
"We will be closely monitoring the situation over the coming weeks and will make an announcement when we have a date for re-opening.
"During this period of closure, we will still be progressing our plans for the 2021 season and we are very much looking forward to seeing visitors return to the park next year."
He added: "We know that this will come as a disappointment for many of our visitors but we want to assure them that decision will put us in a better position to keep delivering great family experiences next year.
"We look forward to reopening welcoming everyone back as soon as we can.
"In the meantime, we wish all our visitors a great Christmas and best wishes for 2021."
Landmark Forest Adventure Park is usually open all year round, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but after the end of October some of the main attractions are closed including Ropeworx, the Wild Water Coaster, the Labyrinth, Runaway Timber and Ant City.
But there is still plenty for families to do between then and the Easter Holidays with the Tropical Hot-House, Dinosaur Kingdom, Wonder Wood and Bamboozeleum in operation.
