Who is a real-life superhero in your community?

Do you know of that one special individual who quietly goes about helping their neighbours or works tirelessly to improve the neighbourhood for the benefit of everyone without ever seeking so much as a thank you?

We want to hear all about them!

Highland Heroes 2026 recognises and celebrates these amazing individuals with the community champion award.

The Highland Heroes award for community champion of the year will be presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to their community.

The community champion of the year award is sponsored by High Life Highland.

Steve Walsh OBE, High Life Highland chief executive, said: “For the second year running we’re proud to sponsor the community champion award at Highland Heroes.

“This award aligns perfectly with our purpose as a charity — making life better in communities throughout the Highlands.

“Every day, we hear inspiring stories of individuals who give their time and energy to improve the lives of others, purely out of kindness and commitment.

“This award is a wonderful way for people to come together and celebrate those unsung heroes who make a real difference.

“It’s an honour to support this category and to help shine a light on the remarkable people whose selfless contributions strengthen the fabric of our local communities.”

Highland Heroes 2026 is a fantastic way to give thanks and to celebrate the unsung heroes in your community.

There are 14 categories in total which are open for nomination.

Over the coming months, we will focus on each category and you will also hear from our generous sponsors about exactly why they are backing Highland Heroes.

But you don’t have to wait!

You can nominate in any of the categories before the deadline of midnight on Sunday, December 14.

Our judges will whittle down your nominations to create a shortlist which will be published next year and you will be able to vote for your Highland Heroes 2026.

In addition to the main categories, a very special award is also presented. A hero of heroes will be chosen by our judges from among all of your winners.

All winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony to be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness.
