COMMUNITY-spirited Highlanders and businesses have been thanked by NHS staff for all of their support during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a moving series of Tweets this afternoon, NHS Highland said the support shown towards its staff had left them "bowled over".

It said there were too many people and businesses to thank them all individually, but wanted to say that their support was much appreciated.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts – Taing mhor o bhonn ar cridheachan!" said NHS Highland.

"We care for all of our patients across NHS Highland, but recently we can't help but be bowled over by the support from people in our community.

"We want to thank businesses like Starbucks, Costa Coffee and Marks & Spencer, who have provided discounts and free food to staff.

"There are too many people to name, but we see and appreciate the support everyone has given us during an extremely busy period for all NHS staff.

"If you have been fundraising, baking for the wards or volunteering, every small thing has made a difference for us. Thank you!"
