Thirteen fresh cases of Covid-19 coronavirus detected across NHS Highland region

THIRTEEN further Covid-19 cases have been recorded across the NHS Highland area, the Scottish Government has confirmed.

The region's cumulative cases increased from 1371 to 1384 when the latest figures were released.

Across Scotland there were 1225 new cases of Covid-19.

Some 1125 people were in hospital with recently-confirmed coronavirus last night – down from 1161 the previous day.

Of those, 90 were in intensive care – an increase of six on Wednesday's figure.

And sadly a further 51 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have since died.

Elsewhere, every health board in the Highlands and islands recorded new cases of Covid-19.

NHS Eileanan Siar saw its cumulative total rise one to 76, NHS Shetland reported two new cases – for a running total of 75 – and NHS Orkney saw its tally increase from 36 to 27.

NHS Grampian detected 74 new infections, for a running total of 4551.

And NHS Tayside recorded 73 fresh positive tests, to take its cumulative tally to 5691.

Scotland has now reported 92,186 confirmed cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
